Mayrhofen are provided in winter by its Ahorn and Penken skiing areas - for perfect winter fun. As a skiing area of superlatives, it scores with intact nature, excellent infrastructure and, of course, with year-round skiing on the nearby Hintertux Glacier.
Skiing in Mayrhofen
The ski slopes in Mayrhofen in Zillertal will amaze anyone: beginners and professionals, those seeking adventure or a more leisurely pace, snowboarders and skiers, young and old.
Penken (the place for action) and Ahorn (for more leisurely enjoyment) attract thousands of winter sports enthusiasts each year, with 142 km of ski slopes with reliable snow and 58 modern ski lifts. Enjoy carving where all the action is, on the excellently prepared ski slopes on Penken; or, in addition to more leisurely carving on the Ahorn's wide sunny slopes, discover action-packed descents, such as the 5.5km valley run.
White Lounge
The igloo village, the White Lounge - our partner organisation in Mayrhofen in Zillertal, is not only a real eye catcher, but also one of the best meeting places for a break from skiing or snowboarding, or a cosy way to round off an action-packed winter's day.
Spend a night in one of the 10 magnificent igloo suites at an altitude of 2,000m. Following a short welcome introduction from our fully trained igloo guides, a hearty fondue dinner awaits you. After which there is a torch-lit hike to one of the most breathtaking places on the Ahorn - the Zillertal Panorama Platform. With the night sky and camp fire there are unforgettable views that you will remember for a very long time.
Penken Park
Penken Park distinguishes itself from other funparks in Tyrol through its variety and quality of jumps, offering all sorts of jumps and attractions for any snowboarders and free-skiers!
Six permanent, perfectly shaped lines and a fantastic crowd have given the park a reputation that it definitely does justice too. An unforgettable time in the mountains is offered to people of all abilities: with a Pro Area, Advanced Area, Advanced Jib Area, Medium Area, Medium Jib Area, Fun Area, Beginners Area and Fun Ride Penken.
With the 4-seater Sun-Jet cable car, 'shred heads' have quick access to the park and a perfect overview to watch friends shredding, or take photos and videos from a bird's eye perspective. The Kids Area has its own lift - the Mittertrett tow lift.
Tobogganing & Snow Tubing
Tobogganing is for anyone not wishing to jostle with the crowds at the lifts and on the overcrowded ski slopes: a genuine alternative to downhill skiing. The longest floodlit toboggan run in Zillertal is found on Gerlosstein!
The latest fun activity in the Gerlosstein skiing area in the Zillertal Arena is snow tubing, where you speed down the specially prepared slope on a tyre. The perfect addition to an enjoyable toboggan ride on the Gerlosstein toboggan run!
